Formal Environment Education
- Ph.D. in Environment Sciences
The Ph.D. program at the Institute focuses on multidisciplinary
studies to include projects on wildlife management, environmental
engineering, environmental health issues, etc.
- Masters in Environment Science
The Institute conducts a two year Masters program in Environment
Sciences. This course is multi-disciplinary in nature and
covers a wide array of subjects which include Environmental
ecology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pollution, Occupational
Health, Remote Sensing, Law, Technologies for Pollution
Control, Environmental Engineering, Methodologies for Environment
Impact Assessment, Environment Education and Communication.
The course emphasizes the social issues of environment such
as sustainable development, population, poverty etc. It
provides students with real life exposure to local environmental
assets and problems.
- Diploma in Environment Education
This Diploma is specially designed for in service teachers.
The course work is held in the summer and Diwali vacations
and covers all aspects of environment that must be integrated
into existing school and college syllabi. The course enhances
expertise in communicating environmental concerns to initiate
awareness of environmental concerns in the community. It
includes a practical orientation to using a variety of techniques
to impart environment education. It encourages a research
orientation to education through project work to conceptualize
develop and use locale specific environment education material.
- Certified training course in GIS
This is a three months training course in GIS which is in collaboration with Geomed research corporation Germany.
Non-Formal Environment Education Program
- Training workshops for teachers on environment education.
- Implementing self supporting programs through teachers
who are provided with training and material on environment
education.
- Designing of locale specific environment education material.
