The Institute has consciously evolved a multi sector approach to networking and has developed collaborations and linkages with the following organizations:


A.        International Collaborations

  1. The Institute has collaboration with the Department of Geography, University of Cologne, since 2006 under which a student - teacher exchange program between the two Universities is conducted along with joint field work for students from both Universities.
  2. The Institute has collaboration with the Geomed Research Corporation, Germany for a course in GIS.
  3. The Institute has collaboration with the Department of Geography, Lancaster University, UK. Under this collaboration the students doing the Masters in Research (Environment and Development) course from Lancaster University are placed at the Institute for their Dissertation, which is for a period of three months.
  4. The Institute had a collaboration with UNESCO, Paris for starting the Diploma in Environment Education for school teachers in 1998. UNESCO, Paris acted an initial funder for the project and the BVIEER was the initiator and implementer.
  5. The Institute had an agreement with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, New York, USA, in the 1997 for the project ‘A conservation awareness and action program for an ecologically fragile region using traditional values’.
  6. The Institute had a collaboration with UNESCO, Bangkok for adapting a CD-Rom on ‘Teaching and Learning for a Sustainable future’ in June 2003. This contract was award to BVIEER based on its expertise in designing and implementing environment education projects. 

B.   National Collaborations

  1. The Institute is the Regional Resource Agency for the National Green Cops Program for the State of Maharashtra.
  2. An MoA has been signed with the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India under which the Institute is appointed as the Regional Resource Agency for the ‘DNA Club Program’ to be conducted in the states of Maharashtra and Goa.
  3. An MoU with India Canada Environment Facility was signed in 2004 for the project ‘Conservation for Critically Important National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries through a comprehensive Environment Education Program’.
  4. A collaboration with the Concern India Foundation, Mumbai in 1993 saw the initiation of the Institute in September 1993.
  5. An MoU with the Ministry of Environment and Forests was signed in 1994.
  6. The Institute has collaborations with the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India, for the ‘Development of the EnvironmentMuseum and ActivityCenter. This included equipment, development of innovative exhibits and displays.
  7. An MoU with the Confederation of Indian Industries for implementing a School Environment Education program in Pune city in was signed in December 1995.
  8. An MoU with the Tata Power Company for a School Environment Education Program in Lonavala was signed in February 1996.
  9. An MoU with the World Wide Fund for Nature-India for the Education and Awareness and training component of the Biodiversity Conservation Prioritization project was signed in September 1996.
  10. An MoU with Development Alternatives, New Delhi was signed in January 1997 for the project ‘Nurseries for indigenous plant species of the Western Ghats through local initiatives in schools.’
  11. An MOU with Indira Gandhi Conservation Monitoring Center of the World Wide Fund for Nature-India New Delhi was signed in January 1997 for the project ‘Identification of biorich patches and corridors between protected areas in the northern sector of the Western Ghats for promoting conservation action’.
  12. An MoU with the Tata Power Company for Ecorestoration and eco-development of catchment areas was signed in the year 1996.
  13. An MoU with the Maharashtra State Forest Department for the project ‘Ecorestorative strategies to preserve the biologically sensitive protected areas in Maharashtra with special reference to grassland protected area management’  was signed in the year November 1997. 
  14. An MoU with Forest Department, Avsari for developing a Nature Intepretation Centre at Avsari was signed in 1997.
  15. The Institute signed an MoU with the Ministry of Environment and Forest for the project ‘Key Conservation issues in the semi-arid Deccan Plateau’ in 1998. (See Annexure 28-MoU)
  16. An MoU with the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi was signed for the project ‘Survey of Protected Areas in Maharashtra’ in 1998.
  17. An MoU with the World Wide Fund for Nature –India  was signed in April 1998 for the Conservation Corps Program.
  18. An MoU with Forest Department, Alibag for developing a Nature Intepretation Centre at Khandala was signed in 1998. 
  19.  An MoU with the Centre for Environment Education Ahmedabad was signed for the project Diploma in Environment Education   is February 1998.
  20. An MoU with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municiapl Corporation  was signed for the project, ‘A comprehensive Environment Education Program for the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’ July 1998.
  21. An MoU with the JRD Tata Trust , Mumbai was signed for the project, ’A Locale Specific Program for the Mulshi and Maval Talukas’  in   January 1999. 
  22. An MoU with the World Wide Fund for Nature -India was signed in 1999 for the project ‘Capacity building of secondary school teachers in Maval and Mulshi talukas’.  This multistate project was funded by the India Canada Environment facility through the World Wide Fund for Nature-India. 
  23. An MoU with the Soonabai Pirojshah Godrej Foundation for the construction of the auditorium was signed in March 1999.
  24. A collaboration was initiated with theIndian Maritime Foundation, Pune, for producing visual exhibits on marine, coastal and island ecosystems for their National Conference in Goa July 1999.  
  25. An MoU with Forest Department, Pune was signed for developing a Nature Intepretation Centre at the Rehekhuri blackbuck Sanctuary in 1999. (See Annexure 38-MoU)
  26. An MoU for the  project ‘Study of status of infusion of environmental concepts in school curricula and the effectiveness of its delivery’ through the India Environment Management Capacity Building project of the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, which is funded by the World Bank was signed  in October 1999 with the  Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, New Delhi. 
  27. The Institute signed an MoU  with the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India for the project ‘Use of GIS for Wildlife management’ in January 2000.
  28. An MoU for the project ‘Study of wildlife habitat changes in the fragmented forests of the Dang, South Gujarat, using aerial photodocumentation’ was signed with theMinistry of Environment and Forests, Government of India in March 2000. 
  29. An MoU with Forest Department, Pune was signed for developing a Nature Interpretation Centre at the Great Indian Bustard Sanctuary in 2000. 
  30. An MoU with Forest Department, Amravati  was signed for developing a Nature Interpretation Centre at the Melghat Tiger Reserve in Amaravati in the year 2000.
  31. An MoU with the Centre for Environment Education was signed in March 2000 for the project ‘Documenting ecofriendly crafts and traditions as locale specific learning resources for the environment.’
  32. An MoU with the  C.P.R. Environment Education Center – Chennai for the translation of existing environmental books in Marathi in July 2000  was signed. These books are ‘Environmental Concerns of India’, ‘Students Manual’, ‘Understanding Animals’, ‘Tree’,  ‘Teachers Handbook’, ‘Water’ and ‘Biodiversity’. 
  33. An MoU with the Tata Power Company for a School Environment Education Program in the Mawal taluk was signed in August 2000. 
  34. An MoU with the Bhaysaheb Firodiya Trust, Ahmednagar  was signed for the project, ‘A comprehensive Environment Education Program for the schools in Ahmednagar’  in   December 2000. 
  35. An MoU with the Salim Ali Center for Ornithology and Natural History, Coimbatore for the project ‘Inland Wetlands of Indiawas signed in November 2001.  
  36. An MoU with the Center for Environment Education, Ahmedabad for the UNDP’s - Small Grants Program project titled ‘Awareness generation and capacity building of local communities for sustainable generation and resources in an ecologically sensitive area in Mulshi and Maval Taluka of Pune District’ in   January 2002.
  37. The Institute has been appointed as the Resource Agency for Maharashtra State, for the National Green Corps Program of the Ministry of Environment and Forests through a letter of the Ministry of Environment and Forests February 2002. 
  38. An MoU with Forest Department Chikhalkdara was signed  for developing an Intrepretation Centre at the ForestRangersCollege, Chikahldara in March 2002.
  39. An MoU with the Coorg Wildlife Society, Coorg was signed for the project ’Training teachers in Environment Education through the Diploma course in   April 2002.
  40. An MoU with the Pune Municipal Corporation was signed for the project, ‘A Comprehensive and Locale Specific Environment Education Program for the Pune Municipal Corporation Schools.’  in   April 2002
  41. An MoU with Development Alternatives was signed for the Clean-India Program in January 2003.
  42. An MOU was signed with the Ministry of Environment and Forests for the project ‘Design of Evaluation Strategies for the Environment Education in School system’ project in February 2003.
  43. An MoU was signed with the University Grants Commission in July 2003 for developing an undergraduate textbook for Environment.
  44. An MoU was signed with the Ministry of Environment and Forests for a project on ‘An Action Oriented Locale Specific Conservation Awareness Program for Prioritized Wetlands in Maharashtra’.
  45. An MoU was signed with the Forest Department of Thoseghar for designing an Interpretation Centre.
  46. An MoU was signed with the Lucknow Zoological Garden for designing an Interpretation Centre
